I have set down Philip Pullman's Dark Materials for a while. The writing style the book uses is very difficult for me to keep my attention on. So for the next couple weeks I'm going to be reading a few smaller books, that are written in a simpler style. First I'm going to be reading "The Help" so I should have a review posted within the next few days. :)
As a quick summary for those who haven't heard of "The Help". It's set in the 1960's when race was still a big issue, and everything was segregated, and the only jobs a black woman could really get were working as maids and nannies in white households.
"The Help" tells the behind the scenes stories of those maids who are working for white households, and how they really feel. It is filled with laughter, tragedy, friendship, and learning to trust.
But anyway, I'm going to start reading and get started on writing the complete review :)
Much love!
